WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE TO BE  HYPNOTIZED? 

ANOTHER VIEW

My sweet and very good friend Bob L made the following comment in my Yahoo Group in response to the question, "What does it feel like for you when you're hypnotized?" (My comments to follow. Thank you so much Bob - smiles).

From my point of view, everyone has a different reaction to hypnosis in general and to specific sessions. My personal experience has been to relax, a feeling of sinking into my recliner or bed, arms and legs getting very heavy with no desire to move them, some tingling in my hands. When I stop trying to help the hypnotist and open up, I get a tingly feeling over my body and begin to no longer feel that I am attached to my body. My mind is very euphoric yet alert. My eyes are moving. They may be looking for an image or moving to look up into my head. (I do not understand that part) I can see images or see the imagery suggested. I feel the floating clouds. I can answer questions, go deeper, and respond to suggested activities. If the hypnotist leaves a little time for contemplation, I do my own suggestions. I come back to reality on command.

If I fall asleep, I am aware of it. When I come back, I take a short nap and redo the session. I know that I am going into trance because the suggestions are working. Some immediate and some over time. I could say that this is wishing the suggestion to come true but isn't it the result that we are after? For me it really works and I just flat out like the feeling of the trance. Isn't it wonderful to take a few moments a day to just let go and enter our mind and think? What a wonderful experience.
