My sweet friend Robert shared this on my personal blog and it was so wonderful, so moving that I wanted to share it here.

As I thought of my reaction, which mirrored that of a number of women in the audience, I was reminded of the opera scene in "Pretty Woman". Edward has taken Vivian to see a live opera performance, her first ever. He explains, "People's reactions to opera the first time they see it is very dramatic. They either love it or they hate it. If they love it, they will always love it. If they don't, they may learn to appreciate it, but it will never become part of their soul." Even though she doesn't understand the words, Vivian is moved to tears. I feel that way about Opera. It touches my soul in a way that I cannot really explain.

At any rate, I hope you enjoy. If nothing else, one must surely enjoy watching Simon transition from smug and condescending to appreciative surprise.

I don't have a special place in my heart for Opera. But I didn't need one to be moved by that, either. Thanks.

I like Opera on my phone, but on my home and work PC I tend to stick with Mozilla products.

What? What?

That little girl you had on here a while ago...the one who sang "over the rainbow" was in the same competition as the man you feature here. It was him who won the competion over her and as far as I know he currently is establishing a credible recording career. Dentists have offered to fix his teeth free of charge etc

From Puccini's opera, Turandot, this gentleman sings Nessun Dorma.
Translation :
Nessun dorma No one shall sleep
Nessun dorma No one shall sleep

Ma il mio mistero e chiuso in me
But my secret lies hidden within me

il nome mio nessun sapra!
no one will know my name!

Tramontate, stelle! All alba vincero ! Vincero ! Vincero !
Quickly set, stars! At dawn I will win ! I will win ! I will win !

Turandot is a wonderful opera.
thanks for including this in your words.

respectfully,
willie

Willie, thank you - that was so thoughtful. I hadn't yet looked up the translation.

BW, yes I think he definitely has done well already. In the UK, New Zealand, Australia and Norway his album has gone Platinum. He hasn't done as well in the US, but my guess is, after his appearance on "Oprah" on Tuesday, that will change.

wow - moved is not even close to the feelings I had and I am not a opera fan. It must be a Latin thing, but this is remarkable. Thanks for sharing it.
