Goddess Julia

In ancient Rome, what sort of person do you think you would you have been? Would you have hypnotized people? - Arafin

I've thought about this long and hard, Arafin my friend, all of 20 maybe 30 minutes! Perhaps I would have been a Goddess. After all if we're being fanciful, why not go all the way?

Maybe I would have been a powerful huntress like the Goddess Diana, controller of all things lunar. No wait, wasn't she the Goddess of virgins and childbirth? Hmm - two strikes there. Definitely nothing virginal about me and since I'm childless it's quite obvious I don't know nothin' bout birthin' babies ;)

Goddess Fortuna maybe? Goddess of fortune sounds good but she's frequently depicted as blind and veiled as modern justice is often seen. No thanks. I like walking around with my eyes wide open.

Perhaps Goddess Juno, Queen of the Gods. That would make me very in charge, wouldn't you think? Hmm... no... I see where she was the Goddess of matriomony and in the painting above she's receiving the head of Argos. Matrimony was not a good fit for me in the past and in the present I have other more effective ways of dealing with men than to behead them ;)

I think in Roman times I would have been much like I am today - an average lady with my fellow on his knees before me, my fingertips on his face, gazing deeply into his eyes and whispering soft words of persuasion. In whatever time, in whatever place, I would rather be me, simple and lovingly in control than to be a Goddess when the Goddess role is just not a fit.

Oh, and would I have perhaps mesmerized a man or two (or twenty) who passed by my way? I'll leave you to draw your own conclusions ;)

You are far from average. You're unlike any "vanilla" woman I know and you are definitely unlike any dominant woman I know.

"In whatever time, in whatever place, I would rather be me, simple and lovingly in control than to be a Goddess when the Goddess role is just not a fit."

Who you are is much more compelling because you are human. You're sexy and exciting but you're comfortable and non-threatening.

P.S. I started blogging again as you suggested.

Not to mention the Gladiator's.

Duncan, you're a sweetheart. I'll be sure and stop by your blog.

Thank you, Tyrelle :)

Nigel, it is so funny you said that. I was thinking as I responded to that question that I wished I had Suzy's imagination and writing abilities so that I could have created a story to serve as my reply.

I believe Latin for hiney is gluteus maximus ;)

I'm glad that you are you. Goddess might not be a fit but Lady certainly is.

Personally, I have trouble calling someone Goddess. It has to do with some teaching from my childhood.

Ah, but Lady is not a problem. Some of my childhood teaching was to treat a Lady special.

That you are uniquely human, warm, and gentle is something to be considered when prescribing ancient Roman walks of life. So too are your magical abilities to instill feelings of submissiveness, servitude, and arousal in those you touch with your golden voice. If you were a mythical Goddess of that bygone age, I would vote you to be Venus Herself. Who better to set fires deep within the hearts and loins of the Citizens of the City to which all roads led? If you were a mortal woman under that long ago Imperial sun, I would call you nurse, someone devoted to the care of the sick and helpless and distressed. But what more immortal profession is there than that of healer? Were you such then, you would be as you are now, a Feminine Spirit who walks the warm Earth and at the same time rises above the unreal limitations of immortal figureheads. If you strolled those cobbled streets of yore, I think without hesitation that every fitted stone your feet graced would turn instantly to gentle roses as you passed.

(Mmmm......this chianti is reallllllly good!) :)

Since I don't write as well as him I'll only add - what Arafinwe said.
