I'm sitting here watching last night's episode of Lost. After the second season I was really doubting they could pull off a third season that would be worth watching. Hooray I was wrong! While not quite as good as season one, season three has definitely had some edge of the seat moments and a number of unexpected plot turns.
So it seems Jack and Claire are siblings? Of all the weird little coincidences one has come to associate with this show, this was one of the biggest surprises to me. I've always thought that "Claire" was sort of a useless character because they really haven't done much with her since the first season. It seems she does actually play a part in the big Lost scheme of things.
The scene with her mom touched some strong emotional chords within me. I've always had a fear that I'd say something really mean or hurtful to someone I loved and that would be the last words they heard from me. Emilie de Ravin gave a wonderful performance in that scene and showed what a great little actress she is. Shh - tell no one that scene made me cry.
And Jack... has he joined the Others? I can't believe he would. He's too noble in his own mind to betray his friends. Perhaps he is "playing along" until he can find a way to escape.
Lastly, finally they're going to tell the back story of Locke's paralysis. Locke's certainly been acting strange (well, stranger) in the past few episodes. His "oops, did I do that?" attitude after he shoved eye-patch man into the electronic perimeter and fried his cerebral cortex seemed really an understated emotion for anyone much less Locke. I'd have thought he would have been very upset. I also wonder why he blew up the second hatch. Obviously he knew the C4 was there, so why destroy the communication center? The only answer I can think of would be that he doesn't ever want to leave the island because he thinks if he leaves, he'll be paralized again. Also.. he wouldn't be in the position to be a revered leader type if he leaves the island. I suppose he has a lot to lose if he leaves. At first I thought, can anyone be that selfish? Of course the answer is yes - lots of people would be that selfish.
I thoroughly enjoyed Your review of this Lost episode and how well immersed You are in the plot and characters.
I’m glad that Claire’s character was developed further and also impressed and touched by Emilie de Ravin's performance of spilling her heart out to her mom lying in a coma.
The show has managed to keep me enthralled for another season. i'm still reeling from Hurley’s Lotto numbers and unexplained appearances of the smoke monster, the polar bear, and the underground tentacle creature.
=)

Any theories on the story of Locke's paralysis Julia?
