When I began this blog I resolved not to be a person who censored comments in order to generate the illusion that I was always right. Frankly, my ego is strong enough that I don't have to do things like that. I also possess the intelligence and strength to maintain an open mind without letting someone else fill it with crap.
I believe there's actually a more interesting question. Why would someone make such malicious attacks against anyone? The internet seems to have unleashed a legion of social misfits who have no idea how to communicate with simple courtesy. They cannot simply disagree with ideas, they must attack the individual. They're filled with "courage" and say things with no self-censoring whatsoever because they're not face-to-face with their targets. Whether these individuals are bullies, someone possessing the self-esteem of a toad, or simply charm-school drop-outs, it doesn't really matter in the end. Their remarks are a reflection on the person they are, not on the person they attack.
I genuinely feel sorry for them.

I also wondered why you allowed those comments to be published. You are right that dick and others are only making fools of themselves. Anyone who takes the time to read what you write here and also in your Yahoo Group must see that you are genuine. They may not agree with your outlook on dominance and submission and you may not agree with theirs. The difference is how these differences are being expressed. You do this in a respectful manner and IMO are respectful to people who do not deserve respect. This shows the depth of your kindness and graciousness.
I don't feel sorry for them. I would like to punch them.
I agree with Ken Harris that you are being gracious and that does show what a classy woman you are. However, these jerks are preying on your kindness. I would not give them a forum any longer. Let them write their own blog if they have so much "expert" advice to give.
It is too bad the world doesn't have more like you.
You are indeed a very kind and gracious woman, Lady Julia. I do feel sorry for these people. The only ones they can possibly hurt are themselves. I don't know why anyone would willingly do that.
As you said in a recent post, life is messy and filled with imperfect people. But are they doing what they can to be happy? I think they do what they "think" will make them happy. And when they discover that happiness is still elusive, they wonder why and become the sort people who feel compelled to write negative posts on the Internet.
The people who lash out rather than be productive are cowards who will take pot shots at people because they have the anonymity to do it with impunity. I have a profile up on a couple of personals sites and the same sort of people will "hit and run" with foul messages and then delete their profile so no one can even respond (if they would even bother to).
