HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR A HYPNOSIS SESSION?
Part II

Not too long ago, I asked what members in my Yahoo Group do to prepare before listening to a hypnosis MP3 session. Below are suggestions offered by three very good subjects.

Peter recommends:

To get ready to listen to Lady J's MP3s, I move them from my PC to a CD. That way, i am not tied to the immediate area around the computer. Sorry, i am waiting for the latest iPods to come down in price. I figure once half the people in America have one, the price will come down and then I'll buy it specifically for loading Lady J's hypnosis trances, of course.  I head to a nice quiet room. I only turn a night light on in the room. Candles are too risky for me.* I don't want to be in a trance and have my house burn down around me. I have a wonderful chair (kind of like a Lazy-Boy only portable) that I can lay all the way back on. I sit in that chair, close my eyes, and take a few very deep breaths. "Breathe in the relaxation, hold the breath in for a bit, then breathe out your mouth pushing all the stress out." Anyway, I do that at least 3 to 5 times. I start the CD. Before I totally get into the trance, I tell myself that any other noise I may hear other than the voice in the headphones are just part of the life continuing to function around me and I should just continue to concentrate on the voice and what it's suggesting me to do. With my eyes closed, I just focus on the voice.

Captain Tom recommends:

When I'm going to listen to my favorite MP3s, I make sure of many things:

1. Be well rested. It's best to stay awake, even when deeeeply relaxed.
2. It's quiet. Easier sometimes than others.
3. That includes turning off cell phones and the like...so it stays quiet.
4. Low lighting is helpful, and a candle or ten gives the eyes something pleasant and interesting to do at the same time as make the lighting relaxing.
5. I use a recliner and headphones.
6. Loose clothing.
7. Most important: meditate before beginning. Allow extraneous thoughts to subside. Jot down any reminders that come into your mind so you can let those things go. Forget about the oil change and the Mastercard payment. You jotted those down, so let them go. Focus on the quiet, the dark, the candles, and give thanks for what you are about to receive.

soulbits recommends:

For those who need some advice to prepare yourself for the bliss of hypnosis, either lie or sit in a warm, dim room. It doesn't have to be completely dark, but you should definitely turn the lights down and light a candle or two. Personally, i prefer to sit upright over laying down for some reason, but just get as comfortable as your can. Try to minimize the number of distractions that may occur, such as closing windows, turning off or down phones, and make sure the neighbor is done mowing his lawn. Finally, just relax and open your mind to Lady Julia's sweet voice and soothing words. Her only goal is to provide you with a wonderful hypnotic experience!

* Lady Julia's comments about candles - I don't recommend lighting candles unless you absolutely know they can burn safely should you fall asleep. Hypnosis is not sleep, but sometimes when you become very relaxed you can simply fall on to sleep. Also, some MP3s are quite long, so always remember - safety first.
