While I do not consider myself a submissive man (or a dominant one for that matter), I have been exposed to that world and have often found myself curious. Initially I couldn't grasp the concept of surrendering my will to someone else. I have a mind of my own and more than enough intelligence to make my own decisions. Why would any strong, intelligent man ever consider giving control to someone else?

As I've observed one particular dominant woman over time, I've come to appreciate the appeal. Quiet moments of decision, eyes filled with firm resolve, or softly uttered words of gentle persuasion and guidance are almost mesmerizing. They leave the beholder with a strong sense of peace and safety, both feelings that often escape many of us. This enticement along with respect and admiration for the woman possessing such qualities could lead any strong man to his knees.

I can't say that harsh or cruel dominance are even remotely appealing, but there is something almost irresistible about gentle strength. Ralph Sockman said, "Nothing is so strong as gentleness, and nothing is so gentle as true strength." I couldn't agree more.
